Camas Prairie Eye Clinic History

Camas Prairie Eye Clinic has been providing quality eye care services to the Camas Prairie for the past 16 years. Dr. Lane established the clinic in 2008, after working as an associate optometrist in nearby Moscow, Lewiston, and Lapwai for three years. Having many family connections in the area, the clinic blossomed in the original rental space next to Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Grangeville for nine years. In 2017, Camas Prairie moved “uptown” to the current site of Camas Prairie Eye Clinic. The office space was fully renovated and designed by Dr. Lane, establishing that personal touch that all of her patients have appreciated the past six years.

Loving the small-town atmosphere, similar to her own childhood upbringing, Grangeville has been a good fit for her and her three kids. Many patients remember the babies that were brought to the clinic in the early years—three of Dr. Lane’s kids as well as our esteemed employee Loni’s four boys all spent their first six months at the eye clinic! Dr. Lane and Camas Prairie Eye Clinic have now become a permanent fixture on the main street of Grangeville. Many of our patients are like family when they come through the door, as Camas Prairie Eye Clinic is a gem of professionalism, while maintaining a small-town family environmental setting nestled on the Camas Prairie. Services provided by the clinic are utilized by patients from New Meadows to Lewiston and all the rural communities in between.

Our Team

LONI

After graduating from LCSC with a teaching degree in 2008, Loni began working at CPEC with the idea that it would be a short term job until she could get something more permanent. 15 wonderful years later, she is still working at the eye clinic!

Born in Montana, Loni moved to Grangeville at the ripe age of 5. It was the best decision of her life. She attended Grangeville schools where she met her soul mate, Rick Cox, and they married in 2006. Not surprisingly, Loni was an excellent student and excelled at basketball.

She and Rick have 4 boys Dylan (12), Luke (10), Mason (7), and Colby (5). When Loni is not at CPEC and Rick is not hauling logs for Cox Trucking, they enjoy spending time at their family cabin, located somewhere in the Nez Perce National Forest. They enjoy spending time with friends and family playing cards, riding ATVs, Jeeping, and attending sporting events for their kids.

Not surprisingly, Loni’s favorite part of going to work is being able to spend time with her amazing co-workers! Loni also loves to see the patients as they come through the door, and has enjoyed getting to know them through the years. Patients frequently ask about Loni and her family. On the rare occasion Loni takes time off, patients are concerned that Loni is gone. She has become the face of the eye clinic, and we are certain patients come in to see her as much as getting an exam!

Two interesting facts most people don’t know about Loni is she is an avid reader and avid runner. Watch out for her burning up the roadway around Grangeville. And if you have any suggestions for good books, send them her way!

Chelsea

Hailing from Walla Walla, Washington, Chelsea moved to Grangeville in 2020. Chelsea grew up in Walla Walla in a large, extended family. After meeting her husband Cameron through an online dating website, the newly weds made their home in Grangeville, where they live with their beloved cat Snackers.

Chelsea has been working at CPEC for two wonderful years. Most days, you won’t see Chelsea when you come through the door at the eye clinic—she is working in the exam and special testing rooms—these are her favorite part of working at the clinic. She also enjoys getting to know the patients and establishing the professional relationships as she provides high quality eye care.

When not at work, Chelsea keeps herself busy cooking, baking, and restoring old furniture. We don’t believe she bakes anything until it is brought to the clinic—but she does make some excellent desserts! It turns out Chelsea attended culinary school at the Art Institute of Seattle. And she managed restaurants and catering companies for 15 years before coming to CPEC.

Two interesting facts most people don’t know about Chelsea is she is allergic to jalapenos and she and Cameron won the exterior home lighting competition at Christmas time 2023!

Amanda

We are pleased to announce our newest member of our team: Amanda Murphy Bair. A local hire, she grew up splitting time between the metropolitan areas of White Bird and Grangeville.

Amanda’s big news happed back in September, when she got married to her prince charming, Chris Bair. She and Chris make their home here on the prairie. Chris is an employee of Idaho Forest Group. While not working, the happily married couple enjoy riding dirt bikes and their side by side. Amanda also enjoys paddling around on her paddle board in the summer. Spending time with friends, 2 dogs, and her cat are also among Amanda’s favorite past times.

So far, Amanda’s favorite part of working at Camas Prairie Eye Clinic is developing relationships with the patients. She also enjoys being around her charming and witty coworkers!

Two interesting things most people do not know about Amanda is how much she loves to read and listen to audio books! This is probably the reason she does so well at local trivia nights!

ANDREW

After 27 years of working for the Forest Service, Andrew made the change to working full time at CPEC. After two years at the clinic, he feels like it’s been a great decision. Becoming more involved with the day-to-day aspects of the business has been a rewarding change of pace. The variety at the Eye Clinic is what keeps Andrew enthusiastic about coming to work. Most days will find Andrew scheduling patients, dispensing glasses, plowing snow, or maybe all three!

His favorite part about working at CPEC is meeting the patients and being able to enlighten the staff with factual anecdotes on various subjects.

Outside of work, Andrew likes to spend time with his family camping, motorbiking, snowmobiling and fishing in mountain lakes. He enjoys traveling and coaching his kids in soccer, track, and summer baseball.

He also runs a cat relocation program, free of charge.

Most people don’t know that Andrew loves cats and moonlit walks on the beach with his lovely bride, Jill.
