An extrordinary addition to the community, Mr. Jerime Zimmerman

Some know him as “ coach”, others know him as “boss”, but here at Camas Prairie we know him as “neighbor”. Mr. Jerime Zimmerman has lived in Grangeville for 4 short years, and in these few years he has already made a tremendous impact on our community. As the head softball coach and an assistant football coach for Grangeville High School Mr. Zimmerman spends most of his free time in the field preparing for next week’s game. As though that isn’t enough, Jerime is also a Grangeville Border Days board member, and a generous supporter of academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities within the school and community.

In 2018 the Zimmerman family decided to pack up their home in Jackson, California and head to the Camas Prairie because it “was a great fit for me and my family”. After only a short time of living here, Jerime and his family decided to stay in Grangeville because in their eyes it was the perfect place to continue to raise their family. He stated that Grangeville has great community support, and all the outdoor activities you could imagine. He also added that he has made some amazing friends here and he couldn’t imagine living somewhere else. When Jerime compared the Camas Prairie with other places he has lived, he stated that “We just don’t recognize how lucky we are to live in a place like this.” He praised Grangeville for its community unity and applauded people for shopping locally and attending the community events.

As the manager of Les Schwab, the true reason the Zimmerman family landed in Grangeville was because of the job opportunity. Jerime feels grateful that his position at Les Schwab allowed him to choose a location so accommodating for his family. When he isn’t working, coaching, or volunteering Jerime enjoys anything outdoors. He and his family love spending time in the mountains looking for huckleberries, fly fishing on the river, or just relaxing on the beach. The Zimmermans feel “lucky to have encountered this little piece of paradise.”

Jerime and his wife couldn’t be more thankful for the positive influence the community has had on their family. He added that his daughter enjoyed her time at Grangeville High School and that his son continues to make new friends and succeed each day. The Zimmerman family is grateful that the community welcomed them with open arms and even stated that “Grangeville will make a person appreciate all the small things that a large community just doesn’t offer.” When asked what he enjoyed the most about our community he responded, “The small town feel.” Jerime appreciates walking into the grocery store and seeing familiar faces. He also enjoys how the community gathers for a sporting event. After living in several cities with a larger population, he cherishes the connections he has in Grangeville that wouldn’t be present in large cities.

An extrordinary addition to the community, Mr. Jerime Zimmerman

In the short while Mr. Zimmerman has lived in Grangeville, he has become a contributing community member and person of influence. When asked how others can be present within the community, Jerime responded, “There are so many ways people can contribute. Not everybody has to volunteer with an organization, or donate money. The best way to contribute is to get out and support local events by attending them.  If that’s Border Days, High School Sports, or other activities in town, get out and support as many events you can. Organizations putting on the events really appreciate the community support.”

After moving to the Camas Prairie as a new family only 4 years ago, Mr. Jerime Zimmerman’s advice on how to become an active community member is as follows: “My advice is to attend our local events and connect with those working hard to put those events together.  Find a group or event you enjoy, see if they need help, and get plugged in.”

The staff at Camas Prairie Eye Clinic would like to thank and express our gratitude for Mr. Jeremy Zimmerman and all that he does for our community!
